Like dreams made of nothing
In the spring of 2024, I left to be away for a month, but I ended up staying away for nine months. I took only the bare essentials with me. A few clothes, mostly unsuitable for the seasons, a couple of books, notebooks, a few paintbrushes.
But during those months, my concept of “essential” changed radically. And the more I lost things, the closer I felt to a kind of clearer truth that drove me crazy with enthusiasm. The most precious loss was that of words and narratives. My fixation was on death, but not (only) the kind you are imagining.
Like Dreams Made of Nothing is a visual journey into the ever-changing nature of existence. The incessant cycle of appearances and dissolutions, reunions and separations, acquisitions and losses. The frightening unknown that emerges when all certainties prove ephemeral and vanish as suddenly as they appeared.
A nine-movement exploration of existential dissolutions, where with what ends, something of ourselves seems to disappear
But what are we mourning? What have we lost? A piece of our identity? A fragment of our deepest ego?
Who are we without these missing pieces? What remains when everything that defined us disappears? Is there perhaps something in the background that never appears or dissolves?
I lost myself in this search, devoting myself completely to liberating the forms and movements on the canvases. I discovered languages that were completely pure and had never been seen before, which corresponded to a deeper nature and made the inaccessible visible.

Nella primavera 2024 sono partito per stare via un mese ma sono stato via nove mesi. Con me avevo lo stretto indispensabile. Pochi vestiti, per lo più inadatti alle stagioni, un paio di libri, quaderni, qualche penello.
Ma in quei mesi la mia concenzione di “indispensabile” è cambiata radicalmente. E più perdevo cose, più mi sentivo avvicinare a una sorta di verità più limpida che mi faceva impazzire di entusiasmo. La perdita più preziosa è stata quella delle parole e delle narazioni. La mia fissazione era sulla morte, ma non (solo) quella che ti stai immaginando.
Like dreams made of nothing è un viaggio visivo sulla natura mutevole dell’esistente. L’incessante ciclo di apparizioni e dissoluzioni, ricongiungimenti e separazioni, acquisizioni e perdite. L’ignoto spaventoso che si spalanca quando ogni certezza si rivela effimera svanendo allo stesso modo in cui è apparsa.
Un’esplorazione in 9 movimenti delle dissoluzioni esistenziali, dove con ciò che finisce sembra scomparire qualcosa di noi.
Ma che cosa piangiamo, cosa non possediamo più? Una tessera della nostra identità, un frammento di ego profondo?
Cosa siamo senza questi pezzi scomparsi? Cosa rimane quando tutto ciò che ci definiva scompare? C’è forse qualcosa nello sfondo che non appare e non si dissolve mai?
Mi sono perso e abbandonato in questa ricerca, dedicandomi completamente alle forme e ai movimenti da liberare sulle tele. Ho scoperto linguaggi nuovi, mai visti, totalmente puri, che corrispondono a una natura più profonda e che rendono visibile ciò che è inaccessibile.
